First Aid Needs Assessment
The Health & Safety Team has developed the First Aid Needs Assessment for the University based on their day-to-day activities and hazards. This assessment details standard communal first aid provision for a builidng, for example how many first aid kits and first aiders are required. Staff can find the University First Aid Needs Assessment in the First Aid Policy.
If a School or Division introduces additional hazards to the standard University activity , they will need to complete their own First Aid Needs Assessment to determine whether additional provision (kits, specific equipment or training) is required.
Examples of additional hazards (not an exhaustive list) include:
- Handling or storage of hazardous or dangerous substances
- Research studies
- Large scale events
- Children or young persons
- Visitors
- Off-site working
- Lone working
Staff can use the HS F401 First Aid Needs Assessment Tool to do this. If you require support, contact your local Health & Safety Coordinator in the first instance, or the Health and Safety Team on healthsafety@sussex.ac.uk.
