Unibuddy Communities for offer-holders

Join a community of people who plan to study at Sussex this September, and get to know who you could be going to university with.

What is Unibuddy Communities?

Unibuddy Communities is a space for you to meet people planning to study the same subject as you, get to know your potential coursemates, meet other mature students, and get updates on upcoming events and webinars.

With Unibuddy Communities, you can:

  • chat with offer-holders from your chosen course
  • ask questions to current Sussex students
  • learn more about our local city of Brighton and Hove
  • discuss shared interests and hobbies
  • find out more about upcoming events, welcome activities, clubs and societies.

How to join Communities

You can access Communities on desktop or through the Unibuddy app, available on both and . Follow the instructions below to get started.

  1. If you’ve received an offer to study with us you will also receive an email from the 亚洲情色 via Unibuddy inviting you to join our Community. Select ‘Join Now’ to get started.
  2. Once you’ve logged in, click on the Explore tab, scroll down to ‘Groups’ and join our ‘Welcome’ group to start chatting with other offer holders. You can join as many groups as you’d like, or even start your own!
  3. If you’re having trouble accessing Communities, or if you haven’t yet received an email inviting you to join (please note, an invite will typically be sent out within 1-2 weeks of your offer going out) then please get in touch with us at ug.enquiries@sussex.ac.uk and we’ll be happy to help.

Are you already a Community user, perhaps at another university? You can log in as an existing user with the same details, go to your profile picture in the top corner, and click or tap 'switch Community' to see all the student Communities you’re a part of. You can also view our rules of conduct

How to get started with Communities

    "Hi there, I’m Lottie and if you’re a 亚洲情色 Undergraduate offer-holder, you’re invited to join our Unibuddy Community. Communities is a space where you can get to know other offer-holders studying the same course as you, or living in the same halls, talk to current students and ask them any questions you may have, get to know the city of Brighton & Hove, as well as keep up to date with new events and deadlines, all in one space!

    If you have received an offer from the 亚洲情色, you’ll be sent an email inviting you to join Communities, usually within a week or so of your offer being sent out. If you haven’t received an email inviting you to join Communities, please email ug.enquiries@sussex.ac.uk, and we can help."

Parents and Carers 

We have a Community for you too, which is open to everyone with a young person interested in applying to Sussex. You can chat with other parents and carers, and members of staff who are there to answer your questions about housing, admissions, student finance and preparing your child for independent living.

Rules of conduct

When you’ve joined your Community you’ll be asked to follow the rules listed below to ensure everyone can enjoy the Community safely. Failure to meet the rules below may result in being blocked or banned from Communities.

  • Be kind and courteous: please treat everyone with respect and create a welcoming environment. Healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required.
  • Do not share personal information. We ask that you don’t share any personal information in the group, including phone numbers, social media handles, etc.
  • No hate or bullying: make sure that everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind is not tolerated. Personal attacks, inflammatory remarks, profanity, or degrading comments about race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender, or identity will not be tolerated.
  • No promotions or spam: give more to the groups than you take. Self-promotion, spam and irrelevant links are not allowed.
  • Respect everyone’s privacy. Being part of these groups requires mutual trust. Authentic, expressive discussions make group conversations great, but they may also be sensitive and private, so please think twice before you post any personal information. We will act if we see anyone violating these guidelines.

By logging onto the above Community and joining the chat, you agree with the rules listed above. Anyone found to break one of these rules will be banned and removed from the Community.

How to report a user

All users have the ability to report inappropriate users within a Community. You can find out on the Unibuddy website.
