Community Media (P4025)
30 credits, Level 6
Autumn teaching
On this module, you’ll develop an understanding of questions and critiques of community and belonging through, with and in opposition to media online and offline. This draws on action research literatures to critically reassess questions of content, process and form as relating to process-driven forms of media in relation to traditional audience and institutional communities.
The module blends practice and theory relating to community media’s potential to work alongside activists, charities, communities and NGOs to build, sustain, reflect and – where appropriate – critique communities locally, regionally and beyond borders. Journalistic skills will be applied and developed in this context.
