Class, Culture & Conflict: A View from The Inside (L4112A)
15 credits, Level 5
Autumn teaching
What’s class got to do with it?
From the Essex girl to Kate Middleton. From celebrities’ private estates to living on a council estate. From hunger pains to the hunger for social mobility – we explore contemporary social issues in relation to class in the UK.
During this module, you will:
- pay particular sociological focus and attention to the minutiae of everyday life
- cast your own sociological imagination upon the ways in which social class is lived and experienced in contemporary austerity Britain
- turn an auto-ethnographic lens upon your own social positioning.
