Other visitors, groups and conferences

We open our halls of residence to the general public during the student vacation period from 16 June to 8 September 2025.

Staying in student halls during the holidays gives you a cost-effective and convenient option for visiting Brighton and the surrounding area.

Similar to a cheap hotel in the city centre, you get a clean, secure ensuite room with the bonus of having the South Downs on your doorstep to wind down.

You will stay in our East Slope residences – our newest accommodation blocks that have a 24hr reception.

All rooms are single ensuite rooms and you will have use of a communal lounge area where coffee and tea making facilities are available.

Individual bookings and Brighton Pride bookings

We have a minimum age of 18 years old or from 12 years old if accompanied by a responsible adult.

We don't accept bookings for Stag and Hen parties.

Food

Sussex Uni Food offers a range of different cafes, bars and restaurants for you to try throughout your stay with us, all offering a unique style and range of snacks and meals. There's also a Coop supermarket located in Bramber House, Refectory Road.

Wifi

You can get wireless internet in most of our rooms via the free Wifinity network. This is a free campus-wide service but it’s not covered by your rent. Connect to the wifi network and register by following the instructions when you open a browser. You'll then be able to use free wifi on campus and also via any other O2 wifi hotspots elsewhere in the UK.

Campus development

As part of our exciting works to redevelop our campus, we’re currently undertaking significant demolition, building, construction and maintenance work on the campus, including close to residential buildings. Although our contractors aim to minimise the impact, noise and dust can affect surrounding buildings from time to time. There may be short periods when services may be interrupted although the University will try and notify you of any known planned works as soon as possible in advance of them. Contact us before booking if you have any queries about these works.

Visiting Brighton

Brighton is an exciting holiday destination with a range of tourist attractions. There is a vibrant night life, a range of restaurants and cafes, and events and festivals throughout the summer. Find out more about Brighton & Hove.

Our campus is surrounded by the beautiful South Downs National Park. Many of our buildings are listed and were designed by the architect Sir Basil Spence in the 1960s. Find out more about the Sussex campus.
