Centre for Rights, Reparations, and Anti-Colonial Justice

The newly renamed Centre for Rights, Reparations, and Anti-Colonial Justice expands the work of , which, in 2021, brought together two long-standing Sussex research centres and areas of interest: the Sussex Rights and Justice Research Centre and the Centre for Colonial and Postcolonial Studies.

The Centre for Rights, Reparations, and Anti-Colonial Justice research community pursues interdisciplinary research and intellectual exchange in the areas of the ethics and politics of (human) rights and justice, locating these in the histories and cultures of colonial modernity. It also interrogates what forms of reparative justice and politics are necessary in forging progressive futures in the light of those histories.
