Doctoral Open Days at the British Library

The British Library are currently running a series of , which take place in January, February and March 2017. 

The Open Days offer a chance for doctoral researchers to discover the British Library’s unique research materials. From newspapers to maps, datasets to manuscripts, ships' logs to websites, the British Library’s collections cover a wide range of formats and languages spanning the last 3,000 years. Doctoral Open Days are designed to explain the practicalities of using the Library and its services, and provide help in navigating physical and online collections. As well as hearing from expert staff, students will have the opportunity to meet researchers in all disciplines. Each day concentrates on a different aspect of the Library’s collections and most take an inter-disciplinary approach.

The Open Days are:

  •  - 13th February
  •  - 20th February
  •  - 27th February
  •  - 6th March
  •  - 13th March

All events take place in the British Library Conference Centre at St Pancras, London, except for the event on 1 February 2017, which takes place at the Library’s site in Boston Spa, Yorkshire. Suitable for researchers of all disciplines and subject areas, it will showcase the expanding range of research material accessible to researchers at Boston Spa. However, speakers will also provide an overarching introduction to the Library that will be of interest to anyone planning to explore the British Library’s collections for doctoral research – whether that is in Yorkshire, in London or online.
