Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey

The ÑÇÖÞÇéÉ« is taking part in the 2025 Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES).

PTES is a national survey coordinated by , the national body for improving teaching and learning in universities.

Running from 24 March to 13 June, the survey is an opportunity for Masters students to let us know about their experiences so far. Insights from the results will help us make the postgraduate student experience at Sussex the best it can be.

Results from PTES also form part of the evidence base that supports Student Experience and Outcome Plans (SEOPs).

PTES is the only national survey of Masters-level students. It helps build an understanding of experiences across the country.

.

Completing the survey

From Monday 24 March, eligible students will receive an email inviting them to take part in this year’s survey. It should take students no more than 15 minutes to complete.

The survey is confidential and the results are made anonymous so that nobody can be identified.

Email reminders will be sent throughout the survey window to those who have not yet completed the survey.

Questions

PTES questions cover the following areas:

  • teaching and learning
  • engagement
  • community
  • assessment and feedback
  • organisation and management
  • resources and support
  • skills development.

Can students opt out?

We strongly encourage students to complete the survey as soon as possible: their experience and views are important.

The survey is not compulsory. Students can let us know if they do not want to take part by emailing Denise Cooper in Academic Services.

Incentives

Students who complete the online survey by 13 June 2025 will be entered into a prize draw for a chance to win one of five graduation packages worth £150 each, covering gown hire, two guest tickets and a basic photography package.

Results

Over one hundred universities and colleges take part in the survey and the results of institutions aggregated together are published by Advance HE.
