Prejudice, Discrimination and Intergroup Relations (C8569)

Spring teaching

On this module, you'll start to look at to psychological theories of prejudice, discrimination and intergroup relations, with a strong emphasis on applying these theories to multi-ethnic and racial contexts in various parts of the world (e.g., the UK, US, Turkey).

You'll consider key issues in the study of intergroup relations in reference to perceptions and experiences of majority and minority group members, as well as classic and contemporary theory and research on prejudice and intergroup relations.

You'll also discuss the application of these theories and research to current social issues (e.g., racism, sexism, ageism).

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 22 hours of contact time and about 128 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
