Biography

I am a lecturer in media and cultural studies, with research interests in gender and feminism in Africa, black feminist theory, transnational feminist cultural studies, and global consumer cultures. Before joining Sussex in 2016, I was a fellow in qualitative research methods at the London School of Economics.

I received my PhD in gender and cultural studies in 2015 from the department of Culture, Media and Creative Industries at King’s College London. I have a master’s in gender studies from the African Gender Institute at the University of Cape Town, and a bachelor’s degree in social studies from Harvard University.

Before academia, I worked in publishing in Nigeria, running an independent publishing house, Kachifo Limited.
