Professor Winfried Hensinger joins panel at prestigious Royal Society conference on the future of quantum

Professor of Quantum Technologies , Director of Sussex Centre for Quantum Technologies, recently joined a panel at the Royal Society conference on Quantum Information, chaired by Prof Jim Al Khalili, discussing What is the future of Quantum?
The two day conference on the future of quantum-based computing, networks and sensing systems formed part of the Royal Society's industry-focused Transforming our Future series, and contributed to the year-long celebrations of quantum science and its applications - in celebration of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology.
Industry leaders, top scientists and key public sector stakeholders highlighted advances and prospects in quantum innovation and considered the scientific and technical challenges facing the field.
Prof Hensinger said: ‘We initiated the UK’s National Quantum Technology Programme in 2013. At the panel, it was wonderful to summarise the tremendous progress which has been made since then, honour the heroes that have made this success possible, and highlight how quantum technologies are giving rise to a new industry sector here in Britain that changes the way we will work and live.”

More recently, Prof Hensinger was thrilled to welcome to Sussex the Future Digital Economy Minister, Baroness Jones. In addition to a lab tour, under discussion was the vision to turn Greater Brighton into the UKs 'Quantum Silicon Valley'.
