Part of the series: Build Me Up Buttercup! Masterclass with songwriter Tony Macaulay - All Welcome!
Award-winning songwriter, musical theatre composer, novelist and educator Tony Macaulay talks to Tim Hopkins and Joe Watson (Music Department, MAH) about songwriting, his experiences in the music industry, and sustaining a long creative career.
Tony received an Honorary Doctorate of Music in our recent Graduation, and we are delighted to welcome him to share some insights from his hugely successful career in music - his song Build Me Up Buttercup has been streamed over 545 million times on Spotify.
Students of songwriting, fans of musical theatre, and anyone who has ever enjoyed pop music (most of us!) are all very welcome, and there will be an opportunity for Q and A.
Tony's song writing artistry won him The Ivor Novello award nine times, twice as Songwriter of the Year, and The Evening Standard Drama Award for Best Musical.
His songs have been sung by Elvis Presley, Tom Jones, Olivia Newton John, Gladys Knight, Donna Summer, Sonny and Cher, Glen Campbell, Andy Williams, Cliff Richard, Cilla Black, Sandie Shaw, The Fifth Dimension, David Soul, The Hollies, Matt Monro, Scott Walker, The New Seekers, The Drifters, The Foundations, Annie Lennox, Jon Bon Jovi…
... and that is an edited list!
Please do join us, though booking is essential.
