THE World University Rankings 2025

The Times Higher Education (THE) has today (Wednesday 9 October) released its .

Today's rankings place Sussex in the 201-250 range out of more than 2,200 institutions worldwide. This places Sussex in the top 12% globally. We have also been ranked joint 26th in the UK, equaling last year’s position.

The rankings, which have been running since 2004, are published annually by THE. They assess a university's performance in five categories, each of which represents a key area of higher education excellence: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook.

Our performance in these key areas has seen us rise six places to joint 36^th in the world for   international outlook. In addition, we have also risen 66 places in the teaching category to 637^th place and, despite a fall from last year’s position, the University is also ranked 121st in the world for research quality.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sasha Roseneil, said: “At Sussex, we are deeply committed to making a positive contribution to the whole world through our research, education and engagement activities. To be ranked 36^th in the world for international outlook reflects the radically global orientation of the University. Embracing students and staff from over 170 countries as part of our community and carrying out research on matters of global importance is what makes Sussex who and what we are."
