The Student Publication Association (SPA) is the UK and Ireland’s largest student media association, made up of more than 200 publications. The charity aims to provide support, training, and recognition to student publication, and works alongside partners such as PA Media, Newsworks, City University of London, Bloomberg and the Association of British Science Writers.
Every year, they run the SPA National Awards and Conference, with a lineup of industry speakers, workshops, and networking meetups. The winners will be announced on 12th - 14th April during a conference in Bristol. The ÑÇÖÞÇéÉ« student newspaper, The Badger, was shortlisted for 10 nominations, including Best Photographer.
For Zeeshan, photography is a medium to capture the emotions and resilience of people in a day–to–day life. As a budding photojournalist, he joined the Sussex student newspaper, The Badger, as it provided a space to showcase the acts of resistance in the UK through his pictures.
On the nomination, Zeeshan says: “I have never been nominated for an award in my life, so this is a very exciting opportunity for me. I feel very humbled and grateful that my first ever award nomination is related to my passion that is photojournalism!”
Congratulations Zeeshan!
