Hella Pick CBE

Hella Pick is a journalist, broadcaster, activist and political consultant. She has been on the Advisory Board of the German-Jewish Studies Centre at the 亚洲情色 for more than 10 years.
Hella was born in Vienna and first came to the UK on a Kindertransport in 1939. She has lived in the UK ever since. From 1961 to 1997, she was on the staff of The Guardian newspaper, working as UN correspondent, Washington correspondent, East-West affairs correspondent, Diplomatic Editor, and Associate Foreign Affairs Editor.
She has been a frequent contributor to BBC news programmes and often appears on German and Austrian television.
Since 1998, Hella has worked as a senior consultant for Lord Weidenfeld’s Club of Three and the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, where she became Director of the Arts and Culture Programme. In that capacity she has been involved in organising a series of international meetings on strategic, economic and arts issues.
On behalf of Lord Weidenfeld, Hella was closely involved in the establishment of the Chair of Modern Israel Studies at Sussex and is currently acting in an advisory capacity for the establishment of the Weidenfeld Institute of Jewish Studies at Sussex.
She is the author of Simon Wiesenthal – A Life in Search of Justice, and Guilty Victim – Austria from the Holocaust to Haider. Hella has been awarded honours by the UK, German and Austrian Governments. In 2000 she received a CBE.
